Some Tico Slang

So what's the Spanish slang of Costa Rica?

Tico- a Costa Rican person

pura vida- literally 'pure life', translates into everything's great

tuanis- the same thing as pura vida, used mostly by a younger crowd

mae- dude

que dicha
- that's great, que bueno

polo- a bum looking person

chunche, barras- a thing, a whatchamacallit, esta cosa

diay- a sound Ticos make to express whatever

Samuel- a peeping Tom

tapis- booze

guesa
- ugly

  • I wish I could actually use this slang up here in TO... But I'd probably just come off looking like an idiot.

    So the Sens got the best of the Leafs in the season opener... in a shootout no less. I shall curse Hasek's name in the interim, but know this : come playoff time the Sens are going down! :P

    It will be the same as it always is. The Leafs will beat the Sens and promptly have their asses kicked in the next round, that is the way of things hehe.
